LOST 20lbs and they're STILL gone three months later after reading this book!

*NOTE: I was asked to be a test reader for this book as it was being developed and written over the past year. I received this book free from the author in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I am 48 years old and hate to admit it, but I have had a love affair with food for most of my life. I wasn't exactly grossly overweight - I just constantly carried an extra 20 lbs or so and because I'm only 5'1", they tended to show! With my metabolism recently slowing down with age, the extra pounds were particularly difficult to shift. There had been two or three times in my life when I actually got to my ideal weight.... only to put it all straight back on…. plus an additional couple of pounds.
Needless to say, I was excited to be offered the opportunity to be a test reader as this book/manuscript was being developed since I was hoping it would help me in my situation - and it did!
You see, upon reading this book, I realized that I had fallen in love with food! And now that I’ve written it down in black and white - it sounds ugly!
Throughout my life, diets would always start on Mondays (after I had binged all weekend) and if I messed up during the week (whether it be overeating or missing a workout), I would give up and eat WHATEVER I wanted….. until Monday. Thus the cycle would begin all over again. (Too bad if I tripped up on a Tuesday… because Monday’s a LONG way away!). I loved my food and would wake up in the morning planning to eat the left-over lasagna or Thai curry in the fridge from lunch, or think in advance what I would eat for dinner. I'd plan what I would order at a restaurant on date night well before the night arrived. I enjoyed my food… obviously a little too much!
But the good news is that with the tools Monica has outlined in this book, I have fallen OUT of love with food. Monica’s journaling of how a skinny person thinks and approaches food has been nothing short of mind blowing. For me, it was a case of simply understanding the battle going on in my head and changing my thinking! No money was needed, no diet plan was required, it entailed no one else’s help - all it needed was me and a change in my thought patterns. How amazing is that!
Over the past 10 months I have lost a grand total of 23 lbs AND IT HAS STAYED OFF for over 3 months now. I occasionally hop on the scale and always jump off grinning from ear-to-ear…. and I have that deep down reassurance that it is gone for good. That has NEVER happened before in my life. I'm not even worried that it will return because there has been such a huge shift in my thinking that my love affair with food has finally been conquered - done!
And there have been some HUGE, wonderful side-effects. I feel healthier and lighter. I exercise regularly (because that is simply what a 48 year old needs to do to stay healthy). My confidence has soared and I love everything about the new me - my new weight, my new figure, my new character traits that have been developed, my new thought life…..
My husband is totally intrigued - we have been married nearly 30 years and he knows my history of constant battles with my weight and has observed my occasional weight loss victories, only to witness the return of those pounds I fought so hard to lose. After seeing my weight finally under control and staying constant for over 3 months, he asked me the other day if I could sit down and write him a diet plan. I simply smiled and said, "I never used a diet plan. That's not what the book is about. You need to read it for yourself." (I would not do it justice trying to explain it myself - the author does it best!)
Deep change CAN happen and I am excited to apply her principles not only to food, but to other areas in my life as well. For me, this book was like the "missing manual” which was the key to any REAL life-long change. If you are at a place in your life where you're fed up with contending with constant weight gain or putting it all back on after you've worked so hard to lose it, this book is a MUST for you! I HIGHLY recommend it!

I have long known "what to do" as far as working out and eating well to lose weight. I have had success, but as pounds would creep back on, I felt there was something missing. My relationship with food was still a struggle and I didn't know how to break that until this book. This book brought so much clarity and freedom. It gave me the tools to finally keep that weight off and not forever be obsessed with my weight.

Excellent book and written in such a an easy to digest way:) Definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who has a desire to be free once and for all from food & body image struggles. It teaches you to overcome and lead a life of victory. Very well written with personal stories that are relatable and at the same time offers you practical ways to achieve true freedom. I also love that it is a "skinny" book and doesn't take too long to read, for those who are intimidated by lengthy books. Buy a few extra copies too because once you start reading it, you'll realize you want to gift it to many people in your life. Cheers to being #happyhealthyandfree
