A great way to re-evaluate your relationship with God.

There are some amazing nuggets of wisdom and thinking here such as, "It is the set of the sail, and not the gale, that determines where it goes," and "Be good for nothing. That's the fun deal, just to be good for nothing," and "Love equals action."
This book will cause you to think seriously about matters you may have thought you had all figured out before. It can be a little confusing and seemingly contradictory, which is why I gave it 4-stars instead of 5.
But Chuck "C" was clearly a very flawed, charismatic individual who also possessed some amazing qualities and stands out as as man who utterly devoted his life to helping other alkies set themselves free with the help of their Higher Powers and a "passionate. spontaneous. helpful" approach to life.
This is a book you need to study and not just read. It will make you think about your life in ways that you don't expect.

A BEST Book for ALL...

I have read this book cover to cover a half dozen times. I flip the ears over on the corners of the important pages. For the first 60 pages there are a few corners flipped here and there. From page 60 to 176 nearly every page has the corner flipped. Powerful stuff. It's actually a transcript of the man speaking to an audience. Aimed at alcoholics, I recommend anyone read this book and replace the word "alcohol" with "ego" and "drinking" with "thinking" and "alcoholic" with "egoholic" to get the "GOLD" inside these pages. The trick for acoholic/addicts as well as anyone else is to read ("listen") from the "heart", not the "head" (mind) :-) I now carry this book in my car and use it as a "reference manual", knowing exactly where to find the part I am looking for regarding whatever issue may be "up" for me in that moment. Bless yourself with this wonderful gift and "be open" :-)

A must read for anyone in a 12-step program or anyone wanting to understand the effects of the disease

Bought this for my husband as he has been an AA success for several years. He loved the book and could really relate to the comments and life lessons Chuck makes in his book. He enjoyed it so much, I think I will be reading it. The author also is very frank about what a terrible person he had become due to alcohol and how his children would hide when he came home from work and even addresses his feelings about his son Richard Chamberlain and how he knew he was different and learned to accept that and many other items. He truly hit rock bottom and spent the rest of his life before he died supporting AA.
