The whole story? Not by a long shot!

I couldn't have been more disappointed in this book that reads like a self-published cheapie. The first example of the caliber of this writer's grammar came on the first page when Knight writes, "...myself and several reporters had received ..." Other examples of poor grammar and punctuation abound. Habitually plurals of names are made by adding an apostrophe and s. Speaking of the couple the Petersons, he writes Peterson's; similar errors detract from the story such as it is. Duh! Where was this guy's editor?

Of course, the biggest downer is that you don't find oout until several pages into the book that since there is so much to tell about Laci that this fine writer couldn't get it all into this book: "hence it was decided to produce a two-volume set." This was obviously written BEFORE the trial and has no pertinent information at all about what happened after Scott's arrest. Hardly the "whole story" advertised. He closes the book with "Well, I've enjoyed this little conversation with you and I do look forward to our next one which should be coming in just a few short months." At nearly 30 bucks his part one was a total rip off. I won't be springing for that next "little conversation."

Mingled in with all of Knight's sorry prose are pages and pages of O.J. rehashing that he strives mightily to make relate to the Peterson case. Included is the gem that Marcia Clark should have encouraged Chris Darden to put "his whole heart and soul into the trial" by flirting with him and saying, "You know, I'll let you have me, Baby." Knight observes that "Since Johnnie (Cochran) chose to use race as a weapon, Marcia could have retaliated with sex as a weapon." What mentality!

Over and over Knight observes he doesn't really know such and such but this is what might have happened. He relates events without giving the names of central figures; he notes he doesn't recall the name. (Hint: find out!)

My opinion (since Knight expresses many...) is that it is arrogant beyond belief to think anyone will think volume one of this shoddy work will support the publication of volume two. But, if you can sucker enough people....

Do not buy this book!

Brad Knight's book isn't worth any money. He recently moved to Modesto and claims to be an expert in the case. He is very prejudiced. He claims Laci's father is a recent immigrant from Latin America. Therefore Laci is half Hispanic and half Caucasian. Scott and Laci's child would be a quarter Hispanic and Scott wasn't pleased with this.

There isn't anything in the book that we don't know from the media. I'm very sorry I spent money on the printed version.

Brad Knight is really ignorant and prejudiced. The only smart thing he has done is to lure unsuspecting readers into buying the book! Don't!

I Liked It But...

Let me start by saying this is my first book that I have read from this author and though I liked the writing style and overall dialog, I felt the book came up short in the end tying loose ends and answering enough questions. It jusf left me feeling incomplete. SLIGHT SPOILERZ AHEAD!!!

Basic story...two peopld meet on a plane: humble Teri and rich playgirl Gina. Teri wants someone to be with on Christmas and Gina just wants Teri. Throw in a few complications and you got yourself a good plot.

So why only 3 stars? The two main characters spend about 50% of the book apart and I didn't feel thejr initial connections portrayed enough to me or had enough depth shown for the year of longing apart. Then when they are reunited after a year I wasn't given enough dialog or interaction between the two to feel the connection (it was established in a few paragraphs). Plus the beginning didnt tie to the end...the first gifts what happened to them, what is the real story behind Insa and Gina, what happens after...

I did like the book. Will I reread it...probably not. Do I regret reading it...no way. This wasn't my full cup of tea but I did enjoy the few hours I spent reading it.

Edutainment, and that's okay by me

I've purchased a number of Horrible History and Horrible Science books for my son, and he enjoys them very much. They are light reading and fairly simplistic, and may not be 100% accurate (I haven't read them all cover to cover), but they are also entertaining, humorous and engaging. He's gleaned an assortment of interesting facts from the series and this has led him to read more about history and science topics that he wouldn't normally cover at his age (if at all). I think they could be very useful for reluctant learners.

The Romans are more Ruthless than your History Teacher

This book is a book about the Romans, and it teaches you many things, for example whether or not you should go to that football game tonight, or if you should save your money (of course this is just some stuff about rome's wierd ideas). This book will teach you the cool stuff, like what kind of gladiators there are, and with funny islistrations, I highly reccomend this book to kids and >>history teachers2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

According to my daughter, this is an awesome book. She loves all of the Horrible Histories books. She says that she loves that it doesn't lighten up the history at all. Most books for kids her age (11) will gloss over the nastier parts of history, while these definitely do not. We're going to visit Rome soon, and she's very excited that maybe she'll get to share some history that we don't know while we're there.

About the Author
Frank H. Netter was born in New York City in 1906. He studied art at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design before entering medical school at New York University, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1931. During his student years, Dr. Netter’s notebook sketches attracted the attention of the medical faculty and other physicians, allowing him to augment his income by illustrating articles and textbooks. He continued illustrating as a sideline after establishing a surgical practice in 1933, but he ultimately opted to give up his practice in favor of a full-time commitment to art. After service in the United States Army during World War II, Dr. Netter began his long collaboration with the CIBA Pharmaceutical Company (now Novartis Pharmaceuticals). This 45-year partnership resulted in the production of the extraordinary collection of medical art so familiar to physicians and other medical professionals worldwide.
Icon Learning Systems acquired the Netter Collection in July 2000 and continued to update Dr. Netter’s original paintings and to add newly commissioned paintings by artists trained in the style of Dr. Netter. In 2005, Elsevier Inc. purchased the Netter Collection and all publications from Icon Learning Systems. There are now over 50 publications featuring the art of Dr. Netter available through Elsevier Inc.
Dr. Netter’s works are among the finest examples of the use of illustration in the teaching of medical concepts. The 13-book Netter Collection of Medical Illustrations, which includes the greater part of the more than 20,000 paintings created by Dr. Netter, became and remains one of the most famous medical works ever published. The Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy, first published in 1989, presents the anatomic paintings from the Netter Collection. Now translated into 16 languages, it is the anatomy atlas of choice among medical and health professions students the world over.
The Netter illustrations are appreciated not only for their aesthetic qualities, but, more importantly, for their intellectual content. As Dr. Netter wrote in 1949 “clarification of a subject is the aim and goal of illustration. No matter how beautifully painted, how delicately and subtly rendered a subject may be, it is of little value as a medical illustration if it does not serve to make clear some medical point.” Dr. Netter’s planning, conception, point of view, and approach are what inform his paintings and what make them so intellectually valuable.
Frank H. Netter, MD, physician and artist, died in 1991.
